Agrium is one of the many companies that offers an employee volunteer reward program. One of our families works with Agrium and has completed a pre-determined amount of volunteer hours with the Preschool. The application process has been completed and Agrium has graciously donated $300.00 towads the Preschool!
Families, if you volunteer with the Preschool, please check with your HR department, as you may qualify as well! The Executive can help out with the paperwork, if you need help.

Wednesday 06th Bring in your favourite new christmas toy and show and share it with all your friends! A local yoga instructor is coming in to teach us a few yoga moves on the 15th. We have a new student joining our A.M. class.
Weather permitting and condition favourable (snow-hill outside) we will

14 Santa Hat Day
16 Popcorn and a Movie
18 Christmas Party
Christmas Break is December 21st - January 01st, 2016. School resumes on January 04, 2016.
December is a busy month full of Christmas fun, music, crafts and lots of holiday activities. Mrs. Barnes is very happy with the progress of letter recognition and sounds. A Letter a Week has started. Letter Factory continues.
Share a snack - the children love to share a snack, but for a number of reasons, we normally do not. This is a day when each child has the opportunity to bring a small snack to share with each friend. Each child brings one snack per child in the class. Please keep the snack small for the reason that each child brings a snack.
Treat and a Movie - A Christmas movie and small snack will be enjoyed by all on the 16th. If we get some snow, often the Town makes a snow pile outside, which is so much fun to play on. You will be notified in advance if outdoor gear is required on this day.

20 Visit from Nurse
27 Crazy Hat Day
The DVD Letter Factory will be playing during the first half hour of class to help the children recognize and know the sounds of the alphabet. They do not have to or usually sit to watch. They continue to interact with their friends while still picking up on the letters.
Crazy Hat Day is a fun day to show off and share with our friends all about our crazy/interesting hat. This is a great opportunity for children to express themselves in front of the class. The hat can be a favorite or a homemade creation. Some children will not want to wear their hat, that is ok - although still send a hat.
Show and Share - Each child will have a specific day to bring in their show and share item. A show and share item can be a favorite book, picture or toy. As well, they will be the special helper for the day!

A detailed email with information will come out around the middle of the month.
Colors and shapes will still be reviewed. This month the focus is on learning how to print our name. If your child is practicing at home - remember to use upper case for the first letter and lower case letters for the rest of the name(example Susan). We’ll also be practicing follow the line (hand eye coordination).
I can not express enough how appreciative I am with all the donations from the Wish List! We even had outsiders see the list posted outside the door and make donations. Thanks again, you are a great group of parents!!

I want to extend to you and your child my warmest welcome into our classroom. My name is Lisa Barnes and I will be your child's teacher this year. My philosophy for learning is that each child is unique and learns in different ways. I believe in hands-on experiences, learning creatively and learning though play. I am really looking forward to another fun-filled and educational year! Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or concerns.
Please arrive no sooner than 5 minutes before class time. This is the time I set aside to prepare for class and talk to parents or
executive if need be.
This can be a very exciting/stressful time for first time parents and I hope to make the transition into school an enjoyable one for
both you and your child. If you have any concerns or would just like to talk to me about your child, please feel free to email, call or
let me know when a good time before/after class would work.

The Gibbons Preschool Association has received support from Canada Post in the form of a community grant. The funds will go towards the addition of manipulative play items for the children and a much needed stool for the Aide/Volunteer to use while to interacting with the children.
Manipulative play items will positively impact the Preschool in the in the following ways: help to improve eye/hand coordination in the children, strengthen hand muscles, encourage imaginations, potentially attract more families to the preschool and help to identify specific areas that children may need extra attention with.
For the children, this will lead to positivity in: self confidence, attitudes towards learning, pride in skills - which will carry over into home lives for the families, concentration and a strong start/continuation into Kindergarten.
The Preschool is a non-profit, charitable organization. All of the funds are raised by parents. According to volunteer President, Janet Coutu, this grant is extremely beneficial to the Preschool. “Our families work extremely hard every year to keep this Preschool running. Our day to day operation funds come from fundraising dollars and fees paid by families. We continue to grow and because of the wonderful and generous support of companies like Canada Post, we are able to provide the extra classroom items for our children that will positively impact their growth.”
Canada Post commented, “The Foundation is proud to support organizations like (Gibbons Preschool Association) that strive to improve the lives of Canadian children.
