Continuation of letter and number recognition continues throughout the rest of the year. This month we’ll focus on patterns to support a key role in young children’s mathematics understanding and development.
Wednesday 06th Bring in your favourite new christmas toy and show and share it with all your friends! A local yoga instructor is coming in to teach us a few yoga moves on the 15th. We have a new student joining our A.M. class.
Weather permitting and condition favourable (snow-hill outside) we will
spend the last 20 minutes of our day outside. Please send snow pants,
mittens, hat and boots with your child. The children love spending a bit of
time outside and it releases some built up energy!

Someone from the dental office will come to each class for an informative visit. School pictures take place on the 21st, information to follow. A Halloween Party is scheduled for the 30th with a short visit to to the bank to show off our costumes and have a little tour. A detailed email with information will come out around the middle of the month.
Colors and shapes will still be reviewed. This month the focus is on learning how to print our name. If your child is practicing at home - remember to use upper case for the first letter and lower case letters for the rest of the name(example Susan). We’ll also be practicing follow the line (hand eye coordination).
I can not express enough how appreciative I am with all the donations from the Wish List! We even had outsiders see the list posted outside the door and make donations. Thanks again, you are a great group of parents!!

WELCOME!!
I want to extend to you and your child my warmest welcome into our classroom. My name is Lisa Barnes and I will be your child's teacher this year. My philosophy for learning is that each child is unique and learns in different ways. I believe in hands-on experiences, learning creatively and learning though play. I am really looking forward to another fun-filled and educational year! Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or concerns.
Please arrive no sooner than 5 minutes before class time. This is the time I set aside to prepare for class and talk to parents or
executive if need be.
This can be a very exciting/stressful time for first time parents and I hope to make the transition into school an enjoyable one for
both you and your child. If you have any concerns or would just like to talk to me about your child, please feel free to email, call or
let me know when a good time before/after class would work.

We now have neighbours upstairs. There will be more traffic using the stairs which means the stairs can get wet. The boot rack has been moved to the top of the stairs along side the coat hanger. Please bring your child up with their outdoor footwear on and leave them on the boot rack. After class come on up and pick your child up, we may not have access to the elevator since there are more occupants now. Please, no outdoor shoes in the classroom.

Happy Spring Everyone!

Just before spring break, if weather permits, we will plan a trip to St.Albert for tobogganing. We slide for about an hour and then whoever would like can make their way to McDonald's for lunch. Your child must be accompanied by an adult andsiblings are more than welcome. Transportation, toboggans, and lunch provided by parent. If weather does not cooperate, a regular school day will be conducted.
Message from Executive - General Meeting Wednesday March 5th at 7:00pm at the preschool. It is encoraged that at least one member per family attend as we will be going over our current financial position as well as fundraising opportunities.

This month we are starting to work on the alphabet. Along with concentrating on a letter each week, a Leap Frog DVD will play at the beginning of each class. As the children play, they sing along. This is a great learning tool.
Show and Share - This month, each child will have a specific day to bring in their show ans share item. A show and share item can be a favorite book, picture, or toy. As well, they will be Mrs. Barnes' helper for the day! An email will be sent to you informing you of your child's show and share date.
Executive Message - The November general meeting will be held on the 13th at 7:00pm, location to be announced. Please RSVP using the contact form, or by phone. Also contact Cari-Lyne if you are interested in volunteering for the CFCW critters fundraiser event on December 12.

We are moving right along with great success! Socially, the children are enjoying their new friends and academically they are doing great. We have reviewed shapes and color and will be moving on to hand eye coordination.
Please have your
child wear their Halloween costume to the party! If you choose, you can
send halloween treats for your child to exchange with each friend. The
children enjoy giving each of their friends a little halloween treat. I
will post more information a couple of weeks before the party along with
a sign up sheet for a potluck lunch.
Thank you for the great
involvement in the chocolate almond sales, great job! The roster
calendar is also looking great, we are almost full for the month of October.

Our first month of school consists of getting acquainted with each other and the classroom. In this time, I will also evaluate the children and start them working in their workbooks. Colors and Shapes are the focus in September, reviewing what we know and adding new material.
With the beautiful weather expected, I would like to take the children to the park each day(weather permitting). Please send appropriate outer-wear for the
weather (fall jacket). We visit the park across the street from the Fire Hall.
The Executive Board would like to Invite you and your little ones out for a Preschool Orientation/General Meeting on September 18, 2013 at 7:00 pm in the Gibbons Community Hall located at 5016 50 Street.
